HBO to Take Metro to K Street

(Washington, DC) K Street, a new television series that will air this fall on HBO, the Emmy-award winning network that broke boundaries with shows such as The Sopranos and Sex and the City, is now setting the trend in our nation's capital. K Street and the Office of Motion Picture and TV Development plan to initiate a new incentive program to encourage production crews to travel to and from the set using Metro.

K Street is an exciting, reality-based series that chronicles a political consulting firm in Washington, DC. This exciting new venture is executive-produced by George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh and will begin airing on HBO on September 14, 2003.

In joining the Washington, DC film and TV community, K Street is providing great opportunities and exposure to the District. "There's no better way to get around downtown DC than Metro," said Mayor Anthony Williams. "I appreciate HBO's leadership in participating in this new incentive program that will encourage production crews to use Metro as their primary means of transportation." As the pioneers of this new Metro venture, the K Street production team becomes the first of its kind to use public transportation in Washington. "K Street is about how Washington works," said Michael Hissrich, a K Street producer, "and the Metro is an integral part of how Washington works."

The Metro continues to be one of the cleanest, safest, most efficient ways of transportation in the country. "We are pleased to be a partner in this groundbreaking effort," said Gladys Mack, Metro board member. "This is yet another affirmation of the diverse interests of this region." Metro has played a supporting role in many productions and now steps behind the scenes to fit the industry's transportation needs.
